STORMTRACK 3: Tornado Watch in effect, strong storms on the move

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- The severe weather event is now over. Strong and severe thunderstorms have pushed through the area causing power outages in spots, and wind damage in others.?

Now that these storms have cleared the coast, scattered showers will remain through 5 AM before clearing skies take hold through the morning hours. We will find that sunshine will re-emerge quickly after daybreak. More minor gusty winds will remain throughout the day Friday.

Throughout the night, gusty winds did cause a variety of damage across southeastern NC. Trees fell across portions of Mitchell Ford Road in Clarkton and Burney Road in White Oak (Bladen County), trees fell and damaged cars in both Wilmington and in Castle Hayne. Siding was also reportedly ripped off of a home in Leland, among other reports.?No major injuries or fatalities were reported.
